Mentorship

Future Farmers firmly believes in the power of mentoring and credits the success rate of apprenticeships with our strong mentoring approach. All apprentices are teamed up with a mentor who will be their key contact for the duration of their apprenticeship. The mentor is in phone and text contact every month and is available to support the apprentice at any time with all questions, big or small. The mentor also stays in touch with the Agri-Partner (farmer, business owner or institution) where the apprentice is placed, so that there is an open flow of communication between all parties.
Mentors are either key senior staff or they are Future Farmers alumni who have been through an apprenticeship successfully themselves and have worked in farming or a farming related industry for at least five years. Mentors undergo training as to what is expected of them from a support perspective, and mentors submit monthly reports to programme managers and are evaluated by their mentees.
