Agri-Partners

Our Agri-Partners, who host apprentices on their farms or in their businesses, are crucial to our apprenticeship model. These long-term partners, mostly farmers, are committed to improving South Africa’s agricultural talent. They welcome apprentices with little experience, providing them with comprehensive training and mentorship over the course of the year. These partners are employers and mentors, dedicating time and effort to ensure apprentices gain valuable insights into the farming sector while demonstrating their capabilities.

Agri-Partners include farmers, retailers, processors, extension offices, agriculturally based NPOs and more.

How can you play a part?

  • Become an Agri-Partner and sign up as a farm, business or organisation that employs our young Future Farmers for the duration of an apprenticeship (12 to 24 months).
  • Identify young people from your communities who can join Future Farmers and be in line for funded apprenticeships. This includes recent matriculants.

What are the benefits for our Agri-Partners?

  • Work with high quality employees who are passionate about the work they do.
  • All Future Farmer apprentices have been thoroughly interviewed and screened.
  • Claim the SARS Employment Tax Incentive (ETI) allowance for employing young work seekers.
  • Receive S18A Certificates for any donations made, allowing a tax deduction under Section 18A of the Income Tax Act.
  • All Future Farmer apprentices are guided by a dedicated mentor, who is in touch with the farmer regularly too.
  • Make a substantial difference to the future of South African farming.

Successful Apprenticeships

The phrase ‘what you put in is what you get out’ applies to both our Agri-Partners and apprentices. When an apprentice commits and works diligently through challenging conditions and maintains open communication with their employer, the Agri-Partner becomes more invested in the development of the apprentice. This has been observed repeatedly with young individuals who fully engage in the experience and are then offered permanent positions by their host Agri-Partner at the conclusion of their apprenticeship.
