My name is Motaung Maxwell Motlalepule from Frankfort in the Free state province. I was born on a farm by the name of Posdam.
Farming is all that I have ever dreamed of since chilhood. On my way to school and back I was walking between the maize and soya beans field where people were walking most of the time. This made me to love farming because that was the only thing I saw which was so great to do. I grew up with the thing that one day want to own a farm and be counted among other farmers, the passion for farming grew more and more everyday up until to this day. On the year 2014 I started going out to seek help and advices on how to get my dream on the go. I met a lot of people who only gave me false hope, some instutions who required a lot of paper and assets. Things changed and got tough there was no hope. On the year 2018 I was on my facebook account then I saw a post that was shared by someone about Future Farmers Foundation, I instantly clicked on the post and by that moment something said go and apply to this foundation. I made my application and I was called for an interview after that I become part of Future Farmers. Now there is some light coming on. I felt very excited because am in the team that will be there for me, to guided advice and mentor me.
Future farmers has opened doors of opportunities for me to learn, lead and to explore other ways of farming.
I am currently in the Northen Cape where I am an intern, and working on the organic team. I have learned and gained a lot of experience from my previous job as a vegetable farm overseer. My current job in the organic team at Lowerland has come in with a lot off lessons. I learn something new every day even if am doing the same work I’ve been doing. I am learning on irrigation, mob grazing and planting organic maize on no till method. There is so much to learn and all thanks to FFf, it has changed my life in a very positive way.
I am patiently waiting to explore more and above everything else. I can’t wait to go overseas, that is once in a lifetime opportunity that Future Farmers gives to its interns.
I want to encourage everyone who is passionate about farming to join this Foundation, it can really change your life.
I want to thank the FFF team for everything they have done for me thus far and the great work they are doing for upcoming farmers.
Thank you
