Who we are
= Future Farmers was born in 2006 and has been cultivating success for 19 years. At the Future Farmers Foundation, we are dedicated to a singular mission: empowering the disadvantaged youth of South Africa who have a passion for agriculture. Through our carefully curated programs, we aim to equip individuals with both the technical skills and soft skills necessary for their personal and professional growth. Future Farmers was established by a dairy farmer, Judy Stuart who met many young people from rural communities with a passion for farming. Unfortunately, they were faced with many socio-economic barriers and felt they couldn’t pursue a career in agriculture. She knew that with the right structures in place, apprenticeships on farms would allow disadvantaged youth to step up onto the ladder of education and work experience which could transform their lives and Future Farmers has been going ever since, gaining NPO status in 2011. Our Mission Our mission is to uplift and equip disadvantaged youths passionate about agriculture in South Africa. We provide training and mentorship, focusing on soft skills, on-farm learning, and personal development. Through apprenticeships, internships, and support, we ensure they gain the skills needed to succeed. By empowering individuals, we contribute to South Africa's sustainable development and economic growth, fostering a brighter future for all. Our Vision We envision a future where empowered youth from disadvantaged backgrounds lead a thriving agricultural industry in South Africa. By providing comprehensive on-farm experiential learning, work readiness support, and mentorship, we aim to create a skilled, well-rounded and inclusive workforce that drives sustainable development and economic growth. Your Future, Our Future: Together, we build a prosperous and equitable agricultural sector for all. |
