Set within the rolling hills of Mooi River lies an oasis of Equine Excellence, Summerhill Stud Farm is a world class facility offering the highest level of equine genetics and breeding. During their placement, 8\\r\\n“interns” learn every aspect of  equine farm management, combining both practical and theoretical knowledge. Day to day farm practices include  paddock placements, AI, horse care and foal health to name a few.

It is clear the harder you work on the farm and the more hours you put in the\\r\\nbetter your experience will be. At present they are expecting over 140 foals\\r\\nthis year, with many sold on auction at the end of the year. With their guide price\\r\\nof over R 2 million, these are horses that will reach the top of their respective classes in show jumping, dressage and horse racing.  Through the latest in gene knowledge from Germany and world class data with regards to mare care, one foal expected to make over R 7 million at this years auction.

The farm\\r\\nis world class, and the facilities are incredible, their international reach\\r\\nand reputation overseas is impeccable. They are busy renovating the interns\\r\\nhouse and it’s expected to have a new kitchen, bathrooms and heating system by\\r\\nnext year with further plans to expand the laundry and bedrooms during 2025.
