Nokulunga Mdluli: Nemvelo Farm – Organic Farming
Hi, my name is Nokulunga Mdluli, and I am from Paulpietersburg (eDumbe). I am currently placed as an apprentice at Nemvelo Farm, an inspiring organic farm that is designed to work in harmony with nature. The farm is committed to free-range chicken farming and practices GMO-free and pesticide-free growing methods, which I find truly inspiring and in line with my values.
It has been an incredible six months so far, and I am gaining valuable experience in various aspects of sustainable farming. My firsthand training includes caring for free-range chickens, performing nursery duties, and learning how to make compost and EMO (Effective Microorganisms). I’ve also had the opportunity to plant seedlings and sow seeds directly, which has given me a deeper understanding of the natural processes involved in farming.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given and the knowledge I am acquiring every day. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to my manager, Mr. Peters, my supervisor, Mr. Hlongwa, and all my colleagues for their continuous support and encouragement. Their dedication to nurturing my professional growth is something I deeply appreciate.
Working with such an enthusiastic and committed team has been an absolute pleasure, and I am thankful for the opportunity that the Future Farmers Foundation has provided. It has been a rewarding journey so far, and I am excited for the months ahead.
I would like to wish all my fellow Future Farmers and my family back home an incredibly happy and joyful Christmas. A huge shout-out to the Future Farmers Foundation for this wonderful opportunity. ❤️
