Perry Gabisile Msweli is busy with an apprenticeship at Rivier Uitsig Regenerative Farm. We caught up with her recently to find out how her apprenticeship, funded by the National Skills Fund, is going.

I am doing well through the Future Farmers programme. I am based in the horticulture sector, managing a hydroponic tunnel where I plant edible flowers, mix lettuce, basil, mint, and chives. It has been an incredible experience working in hydro, using aeroponic irrigation systems, which has taught me so much about precision farming and crop management. I've learned the importance of maintaining optimal nutrient levels, monitoring pH, and adjusting irrigation schedules to ensure healthy plant growth in different weather conditions. It's fascinating to see how these factors impact crop quality and yield. I'm grateful for the hands-on experience and look forward to continuing to learn and grow in this program.
